I’m not much of a birthday girl I’m afraid, although I never look a gift horse in the mouth! This year I tried, as ever, to keep it quiet but suddenly there were text messages, cake, and crys of ‘why didn’t you say!’ echoing through the office. People are terribly sweet but just far too much of a shy girl to embrace the fuss, cue much blushing!
I feel horrid for neglecting this sweet little blog so l'll do a quick recap on my boring life;
. I've just finished reading 'Middlesex' by Jeffrey Eugenides, everyone should read it, it's a fantastic book. It's taken me forever to read as my long mornings spent on the Northern line have sadly resulted more in sleeping than reading, whoops...
. My internship is nearly finished, I've spent almost two months at Anya H, time has flown by! It's been so amazing but hopefully I'll have a couple of other things lined up, a short stint at Harpers Bazaar may be in the pipeline...keep your fingers and toes crossed!
. I was given the Hummingbird Bakery book as part of my birthday so I'm going to spend the day baking peaches and cream cupcakes and drinking some of the delicious tea that my wonderful penpal sent me (in a cute heart print Emma Bridgewater Tea tin no less!)
And I've also just seen that a couple more lovely people are following, so welcome dear readers! I'm going to be more faithful and blog you all to death soon...

Happy birthday! :)
Thank you darling!
Happy birthday! We are moving back to Hove soon so maybe our paths will cross in London one day!
Enjoy your beautiful baking day and I am keeping everything crossed for the HB thing. I have had Middlesex on my shelf ever since it came out in hard back but never managed to get into it. You *may* have convinced me to try again... xxx
Thank you lovely! Are you moving back for good? I think you should def try again, it took me a while to get into it and it was a little slow but I ended up loving it!
Well, I have been offered more money to go back to work so we could (just about) afford for Bill to stay at home with Hallam and then buy somewhere once we decide where to live.
SO we are going to give it a try for 6 months and then make a proper decision. But we'll be in Hove for at least 6 months!
Once I finish Gilead (also quite slow) I will dig it out. I will probably be back at work by then though so I wouldn't expect to finish much before... Christmas?!
How was the Hummingbird Bakery recipe? I am not sure if it may be a little dangerous for me to purchase it, seeing as I won't have much time to exercise once back in Hove. Hmm! xxx
Gosh that's amazing, how I long for someone to actually employ me!
The Hummingbird seems good so far, the peaches and cream cupcakes were lovely, so fresh and delicious. I'm going to do some savoury muffins (cheese and spinach perhaps) today and maybe some blondies too! Def need to run about more now I've got it!x
the 18th was also my cousin's 23rd birthday!
Happy birthday..
I am not much of a birthday person anymore..they make me feel like my life has passed my by. or is. when I have done nothing significant!
happy belated birthday! the hummingbird bakery cookbook is amazing, you'll have to show us the fruits of your labour
Sara this is exactly the same as me, perhaps we are too pesimistic! I know that you for sure have achieved lots and have lots more to look forward too :)
Thank you Helen sweetpea! It's a beautiful book to look at and I've tried a couple of things (one recipe just did not work!) but the cupcakes came out beautifully and were woolfed down before I could even take a picture!
